Anton Chekhov, The Cherry Orchard
Standing against something that so greatly affects one’s conscience is liberating. And by this, I mean, saying, “FUCK YOU!” to “the man”. So many times we see human beings engulfed in power at the expense of others. They chose status, power, and vanity over what should be morally right in every man’s conscience. How one person can deliberately hurt another in a treacherous way for the single gain of ensuring their power, has and always will behoove me. And although expected to stand behind this person of such status, of such power, I cannot. Having the freedom to disagree with “the man” is beautiful, and being able to blatantly rise up and walk away from “the man” with your head higher than theirs and your conscience clear as a summer sky, is liberating, my friends.
